Our New Normal Post Covid

Our Goal: To create a school where teachers love to teach, children love to learn, and parents feel safe. The health and safety of our students is our #1 concern.
  • As of August 2022, we have stopped providing a shoeless environment, students are permitted to leave shoes on for entry and throughout the day.
  • As of November 2022, masks for students and staff are optional. Any child wishing to wear a mask will be provided masks free of charge.
  • As of December 2022, the school will no longer do temperature checks at the front door.
    • If a child is sick at school, or the staff believes the child has a fever, the temperature will be checked using a medical grade thermometer that goes in the ear with a disposable cover to be replaced after each use. Parents will be called to pick up students with a fever. Those students will wait in the office until picked up.
    • As per the school policy, children sent home with a fever must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.
    • When a child has diarrhea, parents will be called. If there is a second diarrhea, the child must be picked up.
  • If a child has COVID, the school must be notified and the family must follow the most current CDC guidelines regarding quarantine requirements.
  • Arrival and Departure: In order to prevent the spread of disease of any kind, including but not limited to Flu & COVID, the school will continue to limit access to the classrooms. This restricted access to the inside of the school is also for security purposes.
    • At drop off, parents dropping off at the main wing are asked to sign in students on the Brightwheel APP and a staff member will take the child to class.
    • Students from Purple, Orange, and Brown classes arriving between 7:30 and 7:45 shall be dropped off at the science lab. Students arriving between 7:45 and 9:00 should ring the bell at the playground and they will be received by the teachers on the playground.
    • Students attending Silver or Gold classes should be dropped off at the classroom door.
    • For Pick up, main wing children will be passed out the door to parents.
    • Orange, Purple, and Brown students picked up at 2:00 will be picked up from the playground with a pick up pass. From 2:00-4:45 they should be picked up at their classrooms with a pick up pass. From 4:45-5:30 they should be picked up at the Playground.
    • Silver and Gold students will be called on the walkie talkie and will be sent out their classroom doors and picked up by parents with pick up passes.
  • Parent Involvement: The following functions will resume as of August 2022
    • Parents will be granted access to classrooms at the Open House Event. Families who are new to the school will be permitted to view the school on a pre registration tour. All families will receive a class Orientation Packet at Open House or upon enrollment. These can also be accessed on the school website on the Parent Corner. This document will help familiarize you with class schedules as well as classroom specific rules and expectations.
    • Parents will be invited to participate in the following on site events to be held outside:
      • Halloween Happening
      • Spring Egg Hunt
      • Photos with Santa
      • Muffins with Mom
      • Donuts with Dad
  • VPK, Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade Year end assembly at the Country Walk Clubhouse

If a parent is not participating in an in school birthday celebration, one parent will be permitted to enter the classroom to pick up their child at the end of their birthday day. If the birthday falls on a weekend, the parent may choose a day during the birthday week for the in class pick up day.
  • Parent Communication: To facilitate communication between parents and teachers the following avenues are available:
    • Parents can communicate via text messaging using the Brightwheel App.
    • Parents can call directly into the classroom and speak to the teacher anytime. Call 305- 232-0606 and follow the prompts to get to your child’s classroom. Ask the teacher the best time to call so that she can properly supervise the classroom. This is usually an hour block during the nap time when the teacher is not on her lunch break.
    • Families who are away for military leave can request FACETIME communicaitons with the teacher or their child during centertime or playground time.
    • Parents who wish to have a face to face conversation with the teacher can do that at any time. Simply send a message in Brightwheel and let the teacher know you would like to meet. We will then arrange for the teacher to bring the child to the door and the floater will watch the class.
  • Family Involvement: Great friendships start at Kids For Kids Academy! There are many ways to begin these relationships
    • Invite class members to birthday parties: In order for no child to feel left out, we will pass out inviations and also post a photo in Brightwheel for parents IF THE ENTIRE CLASS IS INVITED. If you are unable to invite the entire class, we will gladly share your phone number via a Brightwheel message and ask those specific parents to get in touch with you.
    • Outside Play Dates: Classes can facilitate play dates where students and parents can meet and get to know each other. If you would like to be a room parent to facilitate this, let Mrs. Davis know. If you wish to plan a park playdate (there is a great park at the west end of Country Walk), Mrs. Davis will gladly assist in getting messages to parents to organize this on weekend. This is a great way to get to know parents from the school.
