Kids For Kids Academy Newsletter

Dear Parents,
It is with great joy that I welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year.  For those of you who are new to our school, please know that this letter goes out every Friday (sometimes Saturday morning) to keep you informed on what is going on in our school during the preceding week.  PLEASE, PLEASE after you read my letter, click on the link in the right margin and read the teacher’s letter. There you will learn about the activities of the week and also what child is being named as the student of the week.  These letters can also be found on our school website under the classes tab.
Our school year is off to a great start, thanks for bearing with us as we worked out the kinks in our schedules.  Remember that all kids from our East Wing (silver, gold, brown, purple, and orange) who arrive from 7:30 am – 7:45 should be dropped off at our Science Lab for breakfast.  We have teachers who arrive at 7:45 and 8:00 who will pick up those eating breakfast and take them to the playground.  The last breakfast is served to East Wing kids at 8:00 a.m..  Anyone who ate breakfast at home, dropped off at 7:45 or later should go right to the playground.  Please note that VPK kids start walking to class at 8:20.  Please make sure to drop off prior to that time.    After that time, you must bring your child to the main office to be walked over with a key.  Teachers cannot open the front doors in the morning. In our main wing, breakfast is served up until 8:15 so that the meal service is over by 8:30.  Remember, we cannot allow food to be brought into the school unless your child has a food allergy or religious restriction and cannot serve meals outside of our meal service time.  If that is the case, see someone in the office to fill out a special form.
A word about Life Cubby….The first week the teachers spent much of their time helping students adjust.  Please excuse them if you did not get many entries this week.  Also please note that the time in and time out postings are NOT real time.  The only accurate time in and out can only be maintained when you punch your child in and out on our time clock.  The teachers spend the morning greeting and serving breakfast to the children.  When they have the room under control and are in most cases in Circle Time, one teacher punches in all of the children.  Same goes for sign out time in Life Cubby.  If teaches are on the playground or working with a child when each parents picks up, it is impossible to stop and log each child out.  At the end of the day when things wind down, teacher log out the children.  If you have not gotten a link to sign into your Life Cubby, please see Amanda or send us an email.
Below this paragraph you can click on a link to see your child’s class schedule.  This is a work in progress but for the most part, it will show you what your child is doing at a given time.
Green Door             Brown             Silver K
Red Door                Orange            Silver 1
Yellow Door            Purple
Blue Door               Gold 1
Rainbow                 Gold 2
Please note the Open House dates in red in the right margin.  We had to change the 9/13 date due to a conflict with Open House at Jack Gordon.  All Open House events start at 7:00 in the Adult Daycare in our shopping center.  I will meet briefly with parents then you will have a chance to visit your child’s classroom.  Please do your best to attend as the kids and teachers put a lot into the night for you.  Open House will be over by 8:00.
To know who is actually reading this letter, I will be having a contest.  After reading this letter please reply with your child’s name.  Those names will be entered into a drawing for a $50 tuition credit.  You can also ask someone at the front desk to enter you in the drawing.  I will announce the winner in the letter next week.
Have a great weekend,
Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
